In Switzerland, every person who wants to drive a vehicle must have what is known as "driving suitability" or "driving competence".
The larger the vehicle or the more passengers it transports, the stricter the requirements. In some cases, the road traffic authority requires a traffic medical check. We offer these at recognition levels 1 - 3.

WHEN IS A TRAFFIC MEDICAL CHECK DUE?
Everyone who has applied for a driver's license knows: an eyesight test is required and then you drive a car without ever having your health checked again until you are 75 years old. From then on, regular check-ups are mandatory.
There are other cases in which road users must undergo regular check-ups:
- Higher driving license categories (e.g. bus drivers, truck drivers or taxi drivers)
- Assessment of driving ability after a major accident or if there is a negative reputation in road traffic
PROCEDURE FOR A TRAFFIC MEDICAL CHECK-UP
These examinations can only be carried out by doctors who are recognized for them. We have recognition levels 1 - 3.
If you receive a letter from the road traffic authority requesting a traffic medical check-up, register with us for one. You can see which level you have been called up for in the middle of the letter, where you will find the recognition level in bold. Please register with us for the corresponding level.

Traffic medical check-up level 3
The authorities order level 3 examinations if the driver's suitability cannot be assessed within the scope of the level 1 or level 2 examination or if it has been assessed as questionable. This can happen, for example, after serious illnesses. It is also ordered after an incident, e.g. in road traffic, where the driver's suitability is doubted for medical reasons.
At least two consultations are always necessary for this examination. At the first appointment, you give us all the necessary documents and we carry out all the technical examinations:
- Urine sample
- Blood sample if necessary
- Measure blood pressure
- Determine height and weight
- ECG
- Eye test (farsightedness)
- Hearing test
- Various other tests, depending on requirements
- Signing of a waiver of confidentiality for the family doctor and the police
After this appointment, we will obtain all the necessary documents from your family doctor and other places, look through them and incorporate them into the assessment. The second appointment can therefore take place at the earliest two weeks after the first appointment.
The actual doctor's consultation and discussion of your results with the level 3 doctor takes place at the second appointment.
In rare cases, a third consultation is necessary if the assessment cannot be conclusively made. This happens, for example, if further clarification by a cardiologist is required.
Duration: 1 – 1.5 hours

Online appointment booking is not possible for this level. Please register by phone or email.
PREPARATION FOR TRAFFIC MEDICAL CHECK
We recommend drinking enough water or tea beforehand so that the urine sample can be provided.
The costs of the test are always to be borne by yourself; the health insurance company does not reimburse them. Therefore, the corresponding amount must be paid in cash or with a debit card at the first appointment.
Card. If you wear glasses, please bring your glasses with you.
