The general surgeon is, in a sense, the "all-rounder" among surgeons: His field of work includes illnesses, injuries and malformations in the musculoskeletal system,

the blood vessels, the chest cavity and the internal organs. These include, for example, hemorrhoids, inguinal hernias, varicose veins or goiter (struma).
The general surgeon is responsible for both the surgical and non-surgical basic and emergency care of a patient.
The core task here is minor surgery.
